It sucks that the bb.com forum shut down but I cannot blame them.

All of the other sections on the bb.com forum were full of spam, no regular people were posting there pretty much, it seems like admin and mods did not care anymore and were not doing their job/were told to not do anything about it. The only active section was the misc, and it was full of spammers, trolls, extreme racists, people posting gore and porn, constant fighting, it had turned into 4chan, and admin and mods were also barely doing anything.

We figured out there were over 1,000 active members monthly based on Bizee's last ranking thread and the public thread view counts. The forums weren't dead. Bodybuilding.com killed them.

The R&P section had a lot of activity too. That section was fun during debates and election nights etc. Hopefully this site can be similar on Election Night 2024 … I think your characterization of the misc is hyperbole. There was some risqué content posted, but the misc has always been that way. The site still provided the laughs and entertainment before they closed it

If you actually went to the other sections the forum as a whole really was very much dead.

Anyone remember when Quest Nutrition was giving away free protein bars to miscers when the company first started? Now they’re in every grocery store in America, but we had first dibs srs.

They could’ve stopped the spammers/trolls with either an IP ban or some 2 factor authentication process. Or just hidden the misc again. Everything was fine for the couple years they closed the doors to new users. 

The sad reality is Bodybuilding.com didn’t want to be associated with us anymore. Hence the parting middle finger in the form of no warning, blocking users complaining about the misc going away on social media and literally trolling those of us who emailed asking what was going on. They basically spit in our face srs.

I remember hanging out there during the 2016 election cycle, especially election night. The amount of activity was crazy.
