A St. Cloud man will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing a female coworker in 2022.

A jury in Benton County last month found Michael Jordan Carpenter, 38, guilty of 1st-degree premeditated murder for shooting 28-year-old Nicole Michelle Hammond, who had rejected his romantic advances.

Carpenter was initially charged in 2022 with 2nd-degree murder for the fatal shooting that happened in the parking lot of Dubow Textile at 455 Lincoln Ave. NE., where he and Hammond both worked. Charges were raised to first-degree murder in April 2023.
