Gold is up because the U.S. and Europe froze the Russian Central Bank's foreign reserves after Russia invaded Ukraine. Since then, many countries have steadily bought gold because they fear that if they hold their reserves in US Treasuries (or European government bonds), their money will be seized if they have any kind of conflict with the U.S.

It's not a result of inflation fears. The stock market has basically stopped reacting to inflation reports; it no longer worries most investors.
