Srsly: How does 5 GUYS BURGERS survive?

I went in today and although this has been discussed, I was certain I was missing something that made it worthwhile. This location has been open 2 years. First thing I noticed is nothing is worn down. If you told me it was built a month ago I would believe it. No marks on the floor or worn furniture. Everything looked new.

There were two white people waiting for their food.

I watched them make their burgers and thought they must be huge. Like a burger must be as big as a Big Mac. They weren't. And the prices, I usually go to Shake Shack and they have a pretty good serving size so I left.

I'm convinced its some kinda scheme. wouldn't be surprised if epsteins were behind this. granted some locations are really busy but how they afford to keep these open.

they actually do give you a ton of fries. I saw a worker dump loads of fries into a bag. like the size of 4 XL McD fries. I bet their business model is to fill the customer up with fries so he won't recognize that the burgers are not filling. that said, even the fries were kinda expensive.

those prices don't actually appear that outrageous to me given that fact

$13 for a bacon cheeseburger is about what i'd expect to pay anywhere for that nowadays, if not a few dollars more

I don't think 5 Guys even has coupons, at least Ive never seen one. I'm telling ya...the burger patties were not big and were also thin. I don't get it. Friday night too...they should be busy.

Disgusting prices. Would rather heat up some frozen burgers from a grocery store and put em on some cheap buns with some cheese for similar macros for $1.50.

If I HAD to do take out, phark it McDonalds is good enough for me, $5 for 2 cheese burgers, instead of $23 for 2 5 guys cheese burgers.

i don't think i've had five guys in nearly a decade at this point, so i can't comment but i believe it. at the very least you'd expect a nice sized juicy burger for that amount of $

I mean whatever. maybe there isn't an answer to this thread but thats beyond the pale of crazy prices. that is like being at Dodgers Stadium pricing.

I don't remember the last time I went into any sort of restaurant and made a decision of what to eat based on the price of the menu items, nor to I bother to count how much has been spent.

Walk in, order, pay, eat, leave. If I'm that concerned I'll check my card statement at the end of the month.

something that never gets mentioned with 5 guys is the varying quality based on location

the difference i've seen between locations is way worse than chipotle

i've had 5 guys that were 10/10 best burger/fries ever and others that are far worse than mcdonalds

wasn't the money.  I was expecting an absolutely GRAND burger.  as i watched them make orders right in front of me, I was like WTF?  i was about to act like an ABF (angry black female) but I just peaced out.

This guy's dogfoodmaxxing threads were one of the best parts of the old misc.

They are good, but so stupidly overpriced. Not worth it.

Came to this same conclusion tonight. Was nearby a Five Guys and pulled into the parking lot. Then thought about it for a sec, and decided to drive somewhere else.

It's not bad, I enjoy it. But it's just not worth it. Especially when there are a ton of legit good food deals. You can get like 4x the amount food that's about the same quality nowadays at other restaurants, so no need to pay for this crap.

i will go back when their bacon cheeseburger is $7 again. otherwise theyre dead to me

I had some in London in 2019 before the coof, and it was basically sit down restaurant prices with a burger that tasted like a double quarter pounder (srs). IIRC the whole meal was like 30 pounds (kind of forget tho).

The ones in Canada are decent tbh, same prices as other fast food, maybe a few bucks more idk, but much better burger and fries.
