Are Hamsters and Guinea Pigs good pets?

Has anyone here had a pet hamster and/or guinea pig?
What are the pros and cons of them.

low maintence, you can
buy them food in bulk [sunflowerseeds]
but youll need to clean the cage every now and then.
they sell cheap vitamins to be added into water.
they are not compared to dogs or cat by any mean since they show 0 emotions.

Not true, Guinea Pigs get excited and scared, and they purr when you pet them. If I had to choose between the two, get a Guine Pig, they're far more fun to have.

My kids have guinea pigs and they are really good pets for young children. They have personalities, purr and squeak, like to chill. I had my doubts but have been very surprised at their pet value.
