Yeah I don't go to those places. Last time was probably 4 years ago for a family holiday dinner. Places like Outback or Texas Roadhouse have just as good meat and it's under $30 for a 16 oz prime rib or ribeye.

The only thing that would convince me to go to a hoity toity steakhouse would be if they had bigger cuts. Like 24-32 oz prime rib. Hell there's a place called Red Osier in Western NY that has a 72 oz prime rib called the Call Cut. It's like $180 now but it was $40 in the 80s and 90s when my dad put one away.

I haven't been there since I was middle school age so I never attempted it lol. I think in my 20s I could have made a good run at it. Now I could definitely put away a 32 oz but not 72 oz.

Never had a steak at a restaurant I couldn't beat at home and I've been to the best... Morton's, Luger, Daniel (NYC), etc...

This. You can get carryout 12oz new york strips from Texas Roadhouse for $25. That's $2.08 per ounce. I see your point though, can go to Wally World and pick up new york strips for $0.875 an ounce.
