I'll probably end up getting a PS5 Pro when GTA 6 comes out so i can play from day one. Who knows when it'll come out on PC.

Ryzen 5900x
32gb ram
2tb 980 pro, 2tb 970 evo plus
rtx 3080ti
gigabit fibre
gaming mouse, mech keyboard, xbox controller

I just picked up a cheap little travel laptop that has a modern 15w ryzen 8 core + integrated graphics APU. It plays GTA V 60 fps no sweat, for some casual hotel gaming it isn't bad at all.

PS5. Games so far are Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 2&4, God of War Ragnarok, FF7 remake/rebirth. I can’t complain, all were fun.

i feel like upgrading in the 2020s is going to be fruitless

AMD saying they dont care about high perofrmance cards means NVidia has no reason to innovate drastically, at least on the consumer side

graphics cards are a side project now for both companies

all this AI shit

yes kamala pooping on a beach is funny but i want hyperrealism in my rpg

Only play games occasionally - GTA V, GTA 3, GTA San Andreas, Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry 5 and thinking of downloading Martha Is Dead

Xbox Series X
PC - i7 14700kf, 4070 ti Super, 32 GB RAM

Currently playing PVZ Garden Warfare 2 (PC and XBox), WWE 2k24 (PC and XBox), Halo Infinite (Xbox), Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Xbox), College Football 25 (Xbox), Fall Guys (Xbox), Party Animals (Xbox)

Waiting for new 7 days to die update to get crossplay so I can play on PC with my friend who is on Xbox.

EDIT: Forgot about displays. I have 2 1440p 32" monitors. The one for my PC is curved, the one for my Xbox is not. If needed I can use the Xbox monitor as a second PC monitor but haven't needed to yet.

Have you been keeping up to date with the 13th/14th gen Intel CPUs dying en mass? Intel has issued some microcode updates but a lot of people are having their CPU's die, games crashing is the first sign.

Oleds are dope. The best by far. But you gotta know what you're getting into. They kinda need special attention

-don't leave static images on it if not necessary or for long periods of time cuz of burn in
-be careful what you clean it with. Screens get ruined easily
- only buy from a place like Costco or Sam's club where you can get a 5 year warranty
- don't expect an oled to last decades like old tvs
- lots of settings that can be tweaked which can be overwhelming and may require a quick Google or two if you're setting up new devices to use things like hdr10 or dolby vision

But if you want the absolute pinnacle of movie and video game viewing and don't mind taking special care of your TV then oled is goated.

Samsung and LG are both good. I like LG magic remote and interface much better. Samsung gives you a rinky dinky remote which is wild for the price of the tvs. The LG remote is like a wiimote with a pointer and it even works with an Xbox to control it so it is alot more premium feeling.

Didn't know about that at all. Don't think I've had any crashing issues yet (other than WWE 2k24 but that was due to mod compatibility) but some popup comes up most times I shut down my PC. It goes away faster than I can read what it says though.

I didn't really have a choice with this PC. My old PC basically died so I had to buy one. If I was going to build one I would have had to wait longer for parts and then probably a couple weeks for my friend to be able to help me assemble everything, and I couldn't be without a PC for that long. Plus I priced it and it would have cost me a good chunk more to buy an equivalent PC to the prebuilt I bought. Was leaning toward going AMD but there were very few options in the 1500-2200 price range I was looking at.

PS3, PS4 for console gaming. Couldn't get into the $70 PS5 games.

I mostly use my MiSTer though. It's an FPGA that is basically a hardware emulator for the old systems, so it's super accurate. Enjoy the hell out of that thing. If you haven't heard of that scene, and you're into the older consoles, like up to the N64/Saturn, give it a look.

PC Setup:

3 27"2560x1440 144hz monitors
i7-14700k
RTX 4080 SUPER founders edition
2x16gb ddr5 6000 mhz
2TB 990 PRO

Forgot what kind of CPU water cooler and PSU I got.

Also got a Switch and PS5. Doubt I'll buy anymore games for either console system though tbh. Will probably remain PC exclusive till PS6 (2030?).

Also got a Meta Quest 3 for some VR. I like it when I wanna get some extra sweat/cardio while having fun. In my future house I'll keep a bedroom empty dedicated for it.

Have you tried other VR headsets?

I have a Quest 2 and am not sure if the Quest 3 is worth the upgrade. I used to be big into PC VR and the whole standalone thing always bugged me.

The first video talks about patching your CPU. The second video explains the issue. Intel has issued some microcode updates that will minimise further CPU damage, you'll want to install them asap. If you go to the Reddit Intel forum (i can't link misc anymore!) there is a sticky going over the details.

All dope to know, thanks. I dont mind the extra maintenance and I always marvel at them at Costco. Once I move, I am going to take the plunge.

I've tried out a couple in VR lounges, but I think they were HTC Vives. Other than that, the only VR headset I had was one of those gimmicky ones you could get for your old Samsung Galaxy... I think it was a Galaxy S7 or S8.

All I've really done with the Quest 3 is played a few arcade games like Beat Saber, Space Pirate Trainer, and a couple hours playing that Asgard's Wrath 2 game.

My current apartment setup causes me to have basically no room for VR, kept accidentally whacking my TV, stepping on my cat, hitting my calves against something. I have to make the VR space boundaries so particularly thin in some areas it sucks.

Point is I don't have a strong opinion yet on it, but I will after I move into my house in the coming month or 2 - at which point I plan to leave a bedroom empty for VR. From what I remember it was a good time, getting the heart rate up, step count up, dodging/jumping/dancing/crouching around.

EDIT: I wanted to mention that Quest 3 was super easy to connect to a smart TV that's on the same WiFi network, and has great quality and IMO surprisingly low latency. Great for friends/families that wanna try it out and seeing what everyone's experiencing. Also there's some websites with VR Porn that literally puts the porn star in your passthrough environment, or otherwise just jumping into a traditional VR experience.
