Sounds like remote work will be going the way of the misc very soon…
Amazon's 5-day office push may be the beginning of the end for remote working
https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-return-office-push-remote-work-morale-wfh-2024-9
Amazon just mandated all corporate employees back into the office 5 days per week. Das not it mane. That bald scumbag cuck Bozos had been allowing his employees to work remotely at least 2 days per week until this change and it seems like other companies are putting an end to remote and even hybrid work now.
I have been back in the office full time since September 2022 and it’s been miserable AF srs. For two years before then, I was working full time at home with a different company and those were the best two years of my entire adult life. I can’t being to overstate how happy and healthy I was. I’ve been searching for another WFH job for the past 6 months, but the only ones available are bullshit minimum wage call center roles or 6 figure upper management positions where you need an advanced degree. Normies like me are stuck being NPC office drones. Tours over for the good life.
Do you think remote work is really going to end for everyone?

It's going to be tough getting people to go back in their cages. Among my friends, most of them would rather quit and find a new job than go back into the cube.

My job made everyone go back in 2 days a week but a bunch of us are exempt cause we all bought houses 100+ miles away from HQ. They can't fire us if they decide on 5 days cause the entire business would crumble without us.

I've never had the option of working from home but on Fridays I always take the day off. If someone removed that little ounce of freedom from my schedule I'd be pissed.
Still, get back into your cages and do some real work

Yeah, but if you have marketable skills then would this matter?
If a company wants the best talent, wouldn't they poach and allow WFH?

Hey I'm on the new misc!
No, amazon just rejected any half decent employee from working there. Many good workers are gonna leave. Who wants to commute 1-2 hours a day on the west coast???
Remote workers are simply more productive, can buy houses, have better mental health from not being stuck in traffic for hours and can work longer if needed.
I work remote, office workers who gossip all day, get distractions and stuck in some uncomfortabler cubicle, simply cannot compete with us remote workers. We're simply smarter and work better.
Yes some idiots take advantage of it, but a good manager can simply tell who's not getting their work done, which is al that matters. Oh, execs and managers ALSO hate traffic and like working from home.
also: who was climate change? Only ppl whio hate this are downtown restaursants who can't charge $25 for a lunch and real estate investors who rent business space

This. It's a way to get people to quit without doing layoffs or paying huge severance packages / unemployment. If too many people stick around they might do layoffs. Could be wrong though.
TBH we're such puccis these days that the thought of leaving home is a dealbreaker for a job. Remember the older days?

I would not go back full time srs. Once these rate cuts work their way back into the system, it will be an employee market again.

WFH is never going away. At least not in my profession. Sorry officecels. And technically in 3 or 4 years I'll be borderline able to retire. I'd have to really watch it if I did retire that early and I wouldn't be ballin, but I could do it. So even if this does happen it won't happen overnight and by the time I can't find any remote work I could technically check out and be done if I wanted.
LMAO at those of you who do have to go back though... I'd rather suicide

You're stupid as fuck. They also "officially" announced a mandatory hybrid work environment and yet many companies are still fully remote and didn't go to the hybrid model.
But this time is different to you because for some reason you're too low IQ to learn from last time when Amazon announced hybrid and THAT meant fully remote was over for everyone. Yeah ok buddy... I guess it's over for us cause now Amazon is cutting the hybrid model.... lmao

I mean since Amazon calls all the shots here I don't know how so many of us are fully remote. It's been a year and half since Amazon went hybrid. We should all be hybrid right now cause Amazon made a decision!!! DURRRRRR

If you're able to work from home then the job can be done from India.
Why would the company continue to employ you when they can hire a foreigner for 1/3 the wage?

Amazon can't even get it's workers to comply with their hybrid mandate of 1.5 years ago. I just found this from July:
https://www.thestreet.com/employment/amazon-cracking-down-workplace-trend
Employees shit on their hybrid attempt so hard the requirement is only staying for 2 hours.
Now they think this new crackdown will go well? Shit they didn't even start confronting employees who straight up ignored the hybrid policy until 1 year after it went in effect
Absolutely savage.
WFH employees still winning and misc office-cels following their company rules are IRATE about it.
https://www.thestreet.com/employment/amazon-cracking-down-workplace-trend
Since then, some employees have reportedly begun hopping on a new workplace trend that allows them to obey the RTO mandate technically, but not in the way that the company wants them to.
The trend of coffee badging is when employees swipe their badges into the office and only stay long enough for a cup of coffee or to attend a meeting. Employees exit the office only after a few hours of attendance so that they can continue working elsewhere.
The retailer has allegedly started to require employees to spend at least two hours in the office for each visit in order to count as office attendance

"Now that it's been more than a year, we're starting to speak directly with employees who haven't regularly been spending meaningful amounts of time in the office to ensure they understand the importance of spending quality time with their colleagues," said an Amazon spokesperson in a statement to Insider.
Absolutely savage.

Nah the past was because going from WFH to hybrid wasn't a big change. Companies only follow suit when there are massive changes.

This is another golden theory. And yet for 4+ years companies continue to lose all that profit paying their current employees? What's stopping them Jacky? It's been 4 years. Surely they could have interviewed some Indians and saved millions in revenue.
As always, misc morons think they're smarter than they are. Keep spewing this bullshit. It's clear which of you have to go in office and are bitter about it. In fact, it's actually the people highly skilled enough to command a WFH position that are the ones who aren't being forced back in. The plebs of the world who can be easily replaced get the in-office mandate and if they don't comply are easily replaced.
So if you're in office, you're the one who is easily replaceable. Stay extra mad (in your cubicle)

Oh ok... is that the story we're spinning this time? Because if misc was still around I could pull like 20 threads, probably some from you for that matter, claiming WFH was over back in January 2023.
Glad we have this new story from you though. As always you've got it all figured out. What was I thinking.....

Even Forbes is saying remote work isn't going anywhere after this Amazon announcement.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/bryanrobinson/2024/09/21/as-amazon-announces-5-day-rto-are-other-employers-rethinking-their-stance/
Cliffs
-If you are a skilled worker that isn't easily replaced you'll never have to work in office.
-If you work in office, you aren't high value
https://www.forbes.com/sites/bryanrobinson/2024/09/21/as-amazon-announces-5-day-rto-are-other-employers-rethinking-their-stance/
Morgan points out that while some argue that in-person work fosters productivity, numerous studies, including one involving 800,000 employees at Fortune 500 companies, confirm that remote work can match or even enhance productivity.
Avery Morgan agrees. “Amazon's new mandate for a full return to the office risks alienating Gen Z and stifling productivity,”
Morgan underscores that flexibility isn’t just a perk but a major draw for top talent and Gen Z, who will make up 27% of the workforce by 2025, and companies need to adapt to these needs.
Guy Thornton, founder of Practice Aptitude Tests, told me he believes the RTO policies could prove to do more harm than good for businesses. Thornton cites a 2024 study showing that the hybrid working model increased productivity in the workplace by 48.8%, in addition to lowering business costs and increasing employee retention. He questions why employers are choosing to revert to pre-pandemic work models.
Cliffs

-If you work in office, you aren't high value
