ITT: We recreate the old misc. srs.

First, have to say a big thanks to LargePeter, Scrilla, and wickedsmaht for giving us a rendezvous point.

After some back and forth with some users on here(and one of the ahmads), I bought a domain(www.newmisc.com), a vBulletin license, and set up a server on AWS to host a permanent home for the misc. LargePeter, Scrilla, and wickedsmaht will be offered mod status at the new place. Without them we would be posting on some liberal hellhole like reddit.

The goal here is to to rebuild the misc to what it once was, to give us all a permanent home that has the look and feel of the old misc. That includes:

Restoring rep points for users
Bringing back the same color scheme
No downtime
Updating some of the annoyances of the old misc.

I do need some help here.

If anyone has any screenshots of the "dark" mode of the old forums, in addition to some screenshots of the different rep screens, that would be a huge help. I'm going based on memory, and my memory fooking sucks. I was able to get some screenshots from archive.org, but they are from the perspective of a lurker, not an actual miscer.

Also, if anyone has any experience customizing vBulletin, please let me know. I work in IT as a DevOps engineer, and know PHP, but vBulletin is weird as fuk. The license I have for is for vBulletin v5 and v6, but it looks like bb.com was running theirs on v3(or maybe v4). It's a completely different rep system, so I'll have to recreate it from their current system(php mixed with their weird templating engine. srs.)

I also plan to keep this ad free. Misc has always been a home for us, and as long as costs remain low(like <$100 month), I'll just foot the bill. If it gets over that, I might have to set up a donation button. I'm not poor, but I'm not fooking rich either. I promise to never make a dime off this chit. srs.

For now, the initial site is up, and I'm working to restore the old rep system. If anyone has any recommendations for what they would like to see, please feel free to share.

Please keep the white background option too, dark backgrounds fuck with my eyes lol

I have very rudimentary experience with vBulletin. Another forum I was on started to go downhill a while back and we made a forum that we tried to get people to switch to but it didn't last. I was one of the main admins for that forum. This was like 2012 or something though so probably an even earlier version than Misc was running. I also never did any of the actual coding, so I would probably be useless for most of the things you need. If there is anything I can help with though I'd be glad to.

First off chode Im locked in that rate for 5 years secondly, IDC if OP wants to use it or not if he does great if noI will still link to newmisc. I only care about the forum surviving.
