I know of some forums from 2003-2005 that are still up (though they're completely dead, but still - they're up right now). Was it really that much trouble or expense for them to keep the forums?

I really don't like how they deleted the forums without any kind of announcement though. Infact, they sent mixed messages, repeatedly swerving back and forth from "We're working on it" to "We're moving away from the forums." The forums had been around for so long (I first encountered them in 2006). They could have sent out a message saying, "On September 19th, the forums will be gone" and give us an explanation

14 years of my life, so many memories, gone.
