That's a double edged sword. Great for weeding out spam, not so great for attracting new users.

And OP how you gonna verify if a new member is claiming to be this OG X miscer with high reps but didn't post in a decade? It seems very likely to me that a lot of phaggots here are going to fraudcel hard to get high reps and OG status

I have a plan to take care of that. If you've found someone has taken your old username, we'll have a contact form and ways to validate users the best we can. Anyone found frauding will get a lifetime IP ban. I understand people might use VPNs like they did on the old forum, but if it becomes a huge problem we will ban VPN access altogether through use of known VPN IP lists. srs.
Lettuce beef real tea, misc has always been about the lulz and shenanigans, but frauding as OG users will not be tolerated.
I can foresee some kangaroo court action going on at some point, but I don't think there's a better way.
Someone also asked if we can sign up yet. I plan on opening signups next week for a beta run. We might not have the rep system in place fully, but I do plan on having the themes going, email system for accounts/password resets/etc, and the server stable at that time. I'm also standing up a dev environment to test new features before they go live.

If you're using VBulletin instead of Xenforo, then please do not make it look the same exact way as the original Misc. Use the original Misc's color theme, and make it more modern looking. This is what Miscers were asking for for years, while being stuck on VBulletin 4, or what ever version they had.
